Twenty Years.
One Focus.
Dr. Tiplea didn't become a surgeon by accident. He became one because taking away someone's pain — immediately, permanently — turned out to be the most satisfying thing he had ever done clinically. Twenty years and more than 20,000 surgical cases later, that hasn't changed.
Born in Transylvania, Romania. Trained in two countries. Operating across Dallas–Fort Worth since 2016. This is not a side arrangement. This is his entire practice.
How He Got Here.
Dr. Tiplea earned his first dental degree in Romania in 2005, completing a year-long pediatric hospital residency before emigrating to the United States. In 2011 he completed a second dental degree at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco — one of the most rigorous international dental programs in the country.
During his training at UoP he completed a surgical mini-residency under Dr. Garibaldi and a hands-on rotation at Oakland County Hospital, assisting on complex cases performed by some of the most skilled oral surgeons in the region.
After settling in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, he spent years refining his surgical skills in solo practice — building case volume, expanding his implant training, and developing the clinical confidence that comes only from repetition. In 2016 he made a deliberate pivot: bring the surgeon to the office, not the other way around.
The sedation side of his practice reflects a pragmatic trajectory. He began offering oral sedation in 2017 after watching anxious patients struggle with the sounds and sensations of surgery — no pain, but significant psychological discomfort. Oral sedation helped. But it wasn't predictable enough.
After consulting with a mentor who had administered sedation for 25 years, he made the decision to pursue IV conscious sedation certification — not despite the responsibility it carries, but because of it. He is now an active member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Mastership candidate — the highest credential available to a dentist providing office-based anesthesia.
He operates with ASA I and select ASA II patients only. His monitoring setup matches anesthesiologist-level standards — continuous SpO₂, capnography, 4-lead EKG, and blood pressure. His full readiness setup is checked and verified before every surgical day. Safety is not a feature. It is the foundation.
